Remembering Guy Hebert’s appearance on the Mighty Ducks cartoon

Remembering Guy Hebert’s appearance on the Mighty Ducks cartoon

Back in 1993 Part of Disney’s marketing plan for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim was to create an animated TV series about their new team which was named after the movie “The Mighty Ducks”.

Guy Hebert the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim’s number one pick in the 1993 the Expansion Draft is currently a studio analyst on the Ducks television broadcasts. He joined Rick Ralph on the Rona Roundtable on TSN 1290 Winnipeg and reminisced on recording voice-over work for 90s Cartoon “Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series:”

“I did one or two episodes on what was called the Mighty Ducks:The Animated Series, I did some voice work up in LA with some of the guys for the TV show, and even got to go into the studio with Jim Belushi and he was playing the General Manager of the team at the time and did the voice work for that. It was a great thrill. I didn’t do too many of them but it was on TV when they were running it back in the day (and that was) very cool. (It was) something out of the norm from what you do every day on the ice. To be exposed to something like that was really cool. I’m glad somebody remembers, because I don’t think there’s too many that do.”

The show’s original run was from 1996-97 and had a star-studded cast which included Ian Ziering, Brad Garrett, Tim Curry and Jim Belushi. Hebert talked about being in the voice-over booth with Belushi.

“Belushi’s a huge hockey fan and a huge Blackhawks fan; we had a little fun with that. Ironically when they did some of the taping, I was sitting in this booth with him, we went through this little skit and hes likes to ad-lib and said something like “you’re going to the All-Star game”,  and I’m like, “the only way I’m going to the All-Star Game is if you put me on the team.” Ironically, I ended up going to the All Star game that year, a couple months later. It was something that was very fortuitous with Jim Belushi.

Watch one of the clips he voiced below:

Looking back, it feels like the 90s were a prime era for athletes appearing in Movies and on TV. A few examples being Pro Stars, Space Jam with Michael Jordan, Georghe Muresan in My Giant, Dan Marino in Ace Ventura, Brett Favre in Something about Mary and Shaq in Kazaam. It’s something that really doesn’t happen as often in today’s sports world.

The Idiot Files: Shoplifter caught after posting selfie online

Reported by WSILTV.com

“Police say 27-year-old Danielle Saxton stole from a downtown boutique last week. Then, she posted pictures of herself wearing the merchandise. Investigators say Saxton shared the pics just a few hours after the theft. The images quickly spread on Facebook, and led officers straight to her.”

Kelly Hrudey is just going to comment on the hockey

Mark Lee and Kelly Hrudey take the anti-Brent Musberger approach to broadcasting after a Victoria’s Secret model is shown on CBC’s broadcast of Game 4 of the LA Kings/San Jose Sharks series. They’re just going to comment on the hockey folks!

ambrosioUpdate: The female in question is Victoria’s Secret Model Alessandra Ambrosio (@AngelAlessandra)

For those who don’t remember, here’s Brent Musberger’s reaction to seeing Alabama QB AJ McCarron’s girlfriend (now fiancee) Katherine Webb shown during the 2013 NCAA Football National Championship game.

SNL alumni Chris Kattan is in Winnipeg this weekend performing at Rumors Comedy Club. He joined the list of comedians (Rob Schneider, Tom Green) who attended a Jets game while in Winnipeg performing at Rumors.

Kattan was caught on the jumbotron mid game enjoying a quite large slice of pizza. Once he realized he was caught, he began to eat it like his character Mr. Peepers.
